FAQ

How does bag dissolving work?

Put the non-plastic bag or carrier bag in the container, pour hot water of at least 85°C into it. SoluRAB dissolves within five minutes.

Will it dissolve in both saltwater and freshwater?

Yes, if the temperature reaches 85°C, it dissolves in any kind of water.

Can the dissolved bag clog my pipes?

If the bag is dissolved at 85°C, it behaves in the exact the same way as any other liquid poured into the sink. If the bag is properly dissolved in hot water, it cannot clog the pipes.

Why do I need SoluRAB when bioplastics, compostable plastics and paper bags are on the market?

Most plastic substitutes use a portion of crude oil that blends with food or other agricultural products. The result is virtually the same devastation of natural resources and the same degradation problems as conventional plastics. Compostable plastics need a very specific environment to decompose. The conditions in landfills differ significantly from the conditions the compostable plastics need to decompose. As a result, the compostable plastics do not decompose but disintegrate, much like conventional plastics. An enormous amount of energy, water and trees is needed to make paper bags.

None of these alternatives is the solution.

Does SoluRAB have any quality certificates?

We hold a worldwide SoluRAB patent and 14 quality certificates, including the SGS Certificate and ISO 14855-1 Biodegradability Certificate.

Can a bag be made exactly according to my requirements?

Yes, we can make bags of many different sizes, with different material thicknesses or different solubility temperatures.

Will my bag dissolve in the rain?

To begin the process of dissolving, the nontoxic bag or carrier bag must be immersed in hot water of at least 85°C. Cold water, especially rain or humid environments will not harm nontoxic bags or carrier bags.

Can I use the nontoxic bag for food?

Yes but only for the type of food that can be rinsed with water. You can put vegetables and fruits into the bags if you wash them before consuming. Non-plastic bags and carrier bags are NOT yet certified for direct consumption food such as pastries.

What if I accidentally drink the solution containing a dissolved nontoxic bag?

Only the carbon and a small amount of harmless substances remain in the water after the bag dissolves. Don't worry about your health. The inventors themselves drink the dissolved bags during their presentations, demonstrating their safety. All inventors enjoy good health.

What is the load capacity of the nontoxic bags?

The same or greater load capacity as classic plastic bags and carrier bags. The robustness of the SoluRAB material, from which the bags and carrier bags are made, can be customized.

Do you plan other SoluRAB products?

Yes, the material is still evolving and we are working on improving it. At this moment we can offer disposable clothing, garbage bags, disposable seat covers in public transport, gloves and coveralls. Chile is working on toothbrushes, crates, food containers or single-use tableware and other products.

Do I need a special machine to make nontoxic bags? And what happens to all the useless plastic bag machines?

No special equipment is needed for the production of SoluRAB nontoxic bags and carrier bags - they can be manufactured in the same machines as the current flexible plastic films. The machine just needs to be cleaned, we set the temperature and replace the oil granules with SoluRAB granules. Simple as that.

If I throw the bag in trash instead of dissolving it, will I harm the environment?

Not at all. Even if the bag is thrown in mixed waste, it decomposes within 180 days and only natural substances remain.

What is the best way to dispose of a nontoxic bag or carrier bag?

You can use the leftover water from tea or cofeee preparation. Pour it in a cup and put in the NON-PLASTIC BAG. You can also put the bag in the dishwasher or washing machine if your washing programme goes over 85°C.

We recommend to dissolve the NON-PLASTIC CARRIER BAG separately in a container, as it contains cotton thread that can cause problems in the washing machine or the dishwasher.

Do not flush the nontoxic bag or carrier bag into the toilet, wash-basin or other sinks where the water does not reach 85°C. In this case, the bag will not dissolve immediately, but the slow degradation process will begin and the pipes will get clogged.

Our nonplastic products belong to mixed waste bin or should be dissolved in water of at least 85°C and only then poured into the sink.

Does the carbon in the dissolved solution of the bag contribute to the greenhouse gases in the air?

Not at all. Decomposition of the polyvinyl alcohol CH2-CH-OH produces water and carbon. This carbon is not in form of gas and does not enter the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas.

What are the nontoxic bags and carrier bags made of?

The raw material is made from calcium carbide and natural gases, creating non-petroleum polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). A similar substance is used to coat vitamin tablets.

Can I have a company logo printed on my bag?

You can, however, the current print has a few limitations - it can only be printed in colors which are environmentally friendly. Printing is to be ordered from us at Kyosun Europe to ensure print quality and environmentally friendly colors.

Will there ever be products available in other than translucent and white color?

We are currently testing the coloring of the material to make colored bags. So far it is possible to make bags more semi-transparent and in pastel shades.
